Butterfly Moments: December 3rd Edition: Community, Care, and Connection.

As we transition into December, we’re reminded of the importance of community, care, and connection.
This week, we’re spotlighting simple yet impactful ways to promote health and inclusion, from proper hand hygiene to celebrating the resilience of individuals with disabilities. Thank you for joining us on this journey of inspiration and awareness.

The Heart of Hospice:
Health and Hygiene in Hospice Care
During National Handwashing Awareness Week (Dec. 1-7), we’re highlighting the power of simple habits that protect patients, families, and caregivers alike. Proper handwashing is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of illness.

🖐️ 5 Steps to Perfect Handwashing:
1️⃣ Wet your hands with clean water.
2️⃣ Lather with soap, covering all areas (don’t forget between the fingers!).
3️⃣ Scrub for at least 20 seconds (sing your favorite song chorus!).
4️⃣ Rinse thoroughly.
5️⃣ Dry completely with a clean towel or air dry.
🔥 BONUS STEP: Turn off the faucet and open the door with a clean paper towel.
At AseraCare Hospice, we prioritize health and safety to ensure the best care for our patients and peace of mind for their families. Let’s commit to spreading awareness—not germs! 🌟
For administrators and referral sources: By promoting proper hygiene practices, you can reduce infection rates and create a healthier environment for your residents, patients, and staff. Share these steps with your team to support better outcomes.
Little Practices, Big Impact: Happiness Starts Here
Weekly Happiness Tip: "Empowering through Inclusion"
Celebrating Strength and Inclusion: Today is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities
This week, we honor the resilience, achievements, and contributions of individuals with disabilities.
This year’s theme, “Empowering through Inclusion,” inspires us to create a world where accessibility and respect are woven into the fabric of our communities.
✨ How to Celebrate Inclusion:
✅ Educate yourself and others about accessibility and inclusion.
✅ Advocate for equal opportunities in your community.
✅ Celebrate the achievements of individuals with disabilities in your life.
At AseraCare Hospice, we are committed to fostering spaces where everyone feels valued. Let’s work together towards a world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. 🌍💪
Quote of the Week: “Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.” – Dalai Lama | ![]() |
For administrators and referral sources: Diversity and inclusion initiatives are powerful tools for building stronger teams and communities. Consider hosting a staff meeting or event to recognize and celebrate the contributions of individuals with disabilities.
Creating Meaningful Connections: Events Recap

Recent Events:
🌟 Educating and Empowering Staff at Autumn Ridge in Kerman
We had the privilege of presenting "Hospice 101" to the dedicated staff at Autumn Ridge in Kerman. This session provided insights into hospice care, clarified common misconceptions, and highlighted the compassionate services we offer. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with staff expressing gratitude for the clarity and knowledge gained.
🌟 Spreading Gratitude with Candles of Thanks
As a token of our appreciation, we delivered gratitude candles to community partners to honor the light they shine in their work every day. These small gestures are a heartfelt reminder of the incredible impact you make in the lives of others.
🌟 Positive Feedback from Educational Events
From "Coping with Holiday Stress & Depression" to "Hospice 101," the feedback from our recent events has been inspiring. Participants consistently mention how these sessions provide not only valuable information but also a sense of support and connection.
We had the opportunity to connect on an even deeper level recently with the residents at Carmel Village. Our Community Engagement Coordinator and Certified Happiness Trainer, Allison, who is also a former social worker, pulled out her Emotional Wellbeing Toolbox to ensure that each resident was able to walk away with tangible tools for the unique situations they were experiencing.
It is truly an honor to share this information with the Central Valley.
